It begins with this evening’s free performance, part of our summer of Riverside Sessions, bringing together the passion and talent of 150 young people to celebrate the joy that music and dance bring into our lives, and reclaim the power of movement as a means of connection, healing and belonging.
For 26 years, Kinetika Bloco, a Southbank Centre Resident Organisation, has been on a mission to engage young people from south London in long-term creative activity via music and dance, advancing their education, skills, and capacity for learning and leadership.
Many of its members have gone on to become rising stars of the UK music scene, and you’ll find their graduates in acclaimed bands including Mercury-nominated Sons of Kemet, BRIT-winning Ezra Collective, Steam Down, The Banger Factory, Kokoroko and Oreglo; and performing alongside artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Kano, Little Simz, Burna Boy and Solange Knowles.
